We are currently seeking two full-time and permanent Specialist Chefs to take responsibility for our restaurant kitchen with experience in all aspects of business operations: ie. crafting menus, purchasing, inventory rotation, assisting with any kitchen improvements, and client collaboration to bring their feasting dreams to fruition!

Job Duties:

  • Operating a traditional tandoor oven, cooking such items as meat and breads; 
  • Preparing curries, sauces and desserts as per standard and style set by the Head Chef;
  • Discuss food preparation issues with the manager and other staff and monitor the preparation and presentation of the dishes,
  • Prepare various dishes with chicken, beef, and vegetable varieties, including halal meat, stocks, soups and various curry sauces, Indian-style desserts, meat, poultry, eggs and dairy, fish and seafood, vegetables, nuts in accordance with healthy recipes; 
  • Help inn establish kitchen, improving prep spaces, and setup, for increasing demand; 
  • Regulating temperatures of tandoor, ovens, grills, burners/pans and other cooking equipment; 
  • Able to demonstrate a thorough understanding of traditional Northern Indian cuisine including desserts; 
  • Storing food in temperature controlled facilities
  • Ensure the correct preparation and presentation standard of the dishes is maintained at all times
  • Demonstrating tandoor techniques and cooking procedures to other staff if required
  • Checking on food supplies and advising the supervisor of any requirements
  • Ensure all the equipment used in section is in good condition and hygienically cleaned before and after use; and 
  • Assist in the creation of menus (taking into account food and labour costs). 

Experience:

  • 3 + year of previous professional experience in a similar capacity working in the Tandoor & curry section
  • Experience with Indian, gluten-free and Vegetarian Cuisine. 
  • Skilled with presentation: using height, colour, contrast and taste, 
  • Good verbal and written skills, comfortable active social media presence (i.e. posting photos, responding to reviews) 
  • Able to work independently or in a collaborative team environment
  • Ability to take direction and follow through with assigned tasks
  • Available to work evenings, weekends, and holidays if necessary
  • Track record of providing excellent customer satisfaction  and management of workload
  • Strong sense of initiative
