Hours per week: 40 hrs
Salary: $20/hr-$25/hr (depending on the experience)
Start Date: As Soon As Possible.
Education: Completion of Secondary School or equivalent
Language: English.
Experience: Minimum 3 years experience work in a commercial kitchen, with 1-2 years working as sous chef
Additional Qualifications: Background in cooking international or Mexican style dishes
Duties may include but are not limited to the following items:
- Assign work stations to line cooks and other kitchen helps
- Facilitate effective communication between kitchen and restaurant front serving staff
- Demonstrate new cooking techniques and new equipment to line cooks and kitchen helps
- Train Kitchen Staff in preparation, cooking and handling of food
- Help chef plan weekly special menus
- Help chef with workload planning during the restaurant menu transition and seating area expansion, assist chef with incorporating Mexican or international style dishes into the menu
- Prepare and cook meals or specialty foods
- Prepare meals for customers with food allergies or intolerances
- Assist chef and restaurant manager with records of food cost, consumption and supplies
- Inspect kitchen and food services areas
- Ensures cleanliness and hygiene is maintained in the various kitchen areas
